Lansing Community College's fall semester begins Thursday, August 22nd and returning students will find several changes on campus, including an entirely renovated Arts & Sciences Building on Main Campus.

The building, constructed some 45 years ago, has undergone a major facelift. It features state-of-the-art science labs, new classrooms, attractive and flexible collaboration space, and beautiful study areas with hi-tech features. Bright colors accent spaces in the building, some walls and ceilings are multi-dimensional, and there are fresh and saltwater fish tanks in a student commons area. The main lobby is in the same location just off the Mall, across from the Gannon Building. Students will find information in the lobby on how to find their classes. A public open house will be held later in the fall.

Aviation maintenance has moved and students will now take classes at a newly renovated hangar at Mason Jewett Field Airport in Mason. The address is 665 Aviation Drive.

Students coming to Main Campus will notice closed lanes on Capitol Avenue between Schoolcraft Drive and Shiawassee Street.

The Lansing Board of Water and Light (LBWL) closed the easternmost travel lane to allow LBWL to upgrade steam lines. Completion is expected sometime in mid-October.

As usual, parking is a challenge at the beginning of fall semester. Here are a few tips for finding a parking spot:
· Arrive at least 30 minutes before class begins.
· The Gannon Ramp fills up fast and causes traffic congestion on Grand Avenue. Students may want to avoid the ramp and find parking in Lot U, Lot F or on-street parking. If choosing city metered parking, be sure to bring plenty of change.
· If the ramp is full, and line of cars on Grand is not moving, LCC police will give waiting drivers a handout showing alternative parking options. For locations of parking, including traffic advisories, go to
· Listen for parking information and traffic updates on LCC radio at 89.7 FM.

If Main Campus students need assistance or have general questions, they can go to Student Services in the Gannon Building or ask LCC Police cadets who will be on foot patrol to help students. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
