A man from Charlotte has been arrested on several charges after a police chase that stretched from Emmett Township to the border between Eaton and Barry counties.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office says deputies tried to stop a car on 11 Mile Road for traffic violations, including suspected driving while intoxicated.
The Sheriff's Office says the driver took off and led deputies on a chase through Pennfield Township, and into Bellevue in Eaton County.
The chase ended when the driver lost control and crashed into several trees near the Eaton/Barry border.
He suffered minor injuries and was treated at the Oaklawn Hospital.
The name of the driver is not yet being released. He is a 35-year-old Charlotte resident.
Upon further investigation, deputies found more than $10,000 in cash, digital scales and a handgun in the vehicle.
The man was arrested on charges of Operating While Intoxicated, Fleeing and Eluding Police, Possession of a firearm while intoxicated and Possession of a firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
He is currently in the Calhoun County Jail.
