Police Warn of Burglaries in East Lansing

EAST LANSING - A rash of weekend burglaries prompts a warning from police in East Lansing. Police say there were 5 reported break-ins at apartments on the north side of the city They took place during the late night hours of Thursday, Sept. 6 and early morning hours of Friday, Sept. 7 at apartments toward the north end of Abbot Road, near Saginaw Street and Lake Lansing Road. These are apartments are often occupied by students of Michigan State University.

Police say the suspects entered the apartments through the sliding glass doors off of ground-floor and second-floor balconies and stole various items of value, including laptops and cash and credit cards. All doors were unlocked and some were open during the break-ins.

Police urge residents to lock their doors and close their windows at night.

Anyone with information regarding the break-ins is asked to call the ELPD Tip Line at 1-877-ELPD-TIP.
