New Bill Allows Choice For Rural Patients

Mackinaw Island might seem like a vacation getaway, but Governor Snyder stayed plenty busy while on the trip.
A new medical bill he signed into legislation will give patients an option of completing their recoveries in a hospital, rather than a nursing home.
Current law requires hospitals to transfer patients to a nursing home within five days if space at a home is available.
Supporters of the bill say it will give patients more choices for where they receive treatment, especially those in rural areas. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
