State Treasurer and Superintendent would have to agree districts are not financially viable.

The state would have the power to dissolve school districts in financial trouble under two bills in the house.

They would give the state treasurer and superintendent the authority to hand the students and the territory over to neighboring districts. They would have to agree the district was required and failed to submit a deficit-reduction plan, and that the district is not financially viable. They would also have to prove that the district can't provide a full school years’ worth of education.

A district could also be dissolved if there aren't enough people living within its boundaries who are legally qualified to hold all its offices
