BWL Testing New Plant

There's no need for any panic in regards to the loud noise being heard in downtown Lansing Wednesday afternoon.

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget's Central Control has received several inquiries regarding a loud rushing noise similar to a jet engine coming from the south side of the City.

The Lansing Board of Water and Light is releasing steam from its plant at Moore's Park in preparation for the commissioning of a new steam plant.

There is no emergency or cause for concern.

The BWL will hold a “Going Commercial” grand opening and dedication event at its REO Town Headquarters and Cogeneration project on Monday, July 1. “Going Commercial” is a utility industry term that means a power plant is fully operational and providing energy to customers. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion.
