Arrest of Shooting Suspect 12 Days Later

EATON COUNTY - An arrest is made in a shooting that took place outside the Lansing Mall over a week ago.

Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich announced Thursday that Jerry Blackwell, Jr., 22, of Grand Rapids has been arrested and arraigned for the shooting of a man in the Lansing Mall Parking lot March 16th. The 23-year-old victim drove himself to the nearby Meijer parking lot, where he sought assistance.

The sheriff says the victim remains hospitalized, but is improving.
Blackwell is charged with assault with intent to murder and felony firearm.
