Staff and volunteers at the Ingham County Animal Shelter in Mason are pulling an all-nighter for the animals next week in hopes of getting them adopted.

From 4pm Friday December 21 until 4am Saturday December 22, the shelter will remain open to encourage people to adopt a homeless animal just in time for the holiday.

Foster coordinator Katlyn Turner says the holidays are a touch time for everyone and animals are no exception. “We see more animals brought into the shelter the week before Christmas then any other week of the year other then the Fourth of July. We all have homes to go to at the end of the day, but these animals don't. That’s why we’re going to stay at the shelter with the animals all night until every last one goes home with a good family.”

Preuss Pets is the official sponsor of this “First Annual Holiday All-Nighter” at the shelter. To help kick-off the festivities, State Representative Joan Bauer will be at the Mason shelter located at 600 Curtis St. to present a donation check from Preuss Pets as volunteers begin their 12-hour adoption event through the night until 4 AM.

Adoption specials include a $21 adoption fee for all animals which includes spay/neuter, vaccinations and a micro-chip. Among the festivities is a pajama party for volunteers, hot chocolate, refreshments and games and door prizes for visitors, volunteers and the dogs and cats.

“You know you have a dedicated team of volunteers and supporters when they are willing to give up their holidays to spend it with the animals.” said Director Jamie McAloon-Lampman.

For more information on donating or adopting go to the shelter website at www.ac.ingham.org or e-mail ac_mcaloon@ingham.org or visit the shelter at 600 Curtis St. Mason, MI 48854. All donations are tax deductible.
