America's Thanksgiving Parade

Detroit is ready to prove to the world once again that second place is just fine when it comes to parades.
The city's annual Thanksgiving Day march through downtown is set for Thursday morning.
Known as "America's Thanksgiving Parade," it boasts of being one of the oldest and most celebrated such parades in the country and second in size only to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in New York City.
Tens of thousands will gather along a 1 1/2-mile route along Woodward Avenue to watch dozens of floats, clowns and oversized papier-mFachDe heads representing notable Detroit and Michigan personalities make their way down the famed thoroughfare.
Celebrities scheduled to attend include Olympians Meryl Davis, Charlie White and Peter Vanderkaay; and hip-hop artist Biz Markie. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
