EAST LANSING -- A 3-year-old East Lansing girl is safely back home with her mother, while her father is jailed on $500,000 bond on kidnapping and other charges.
East Lansing police Capt. Tom Johnstone says his officers arrested 28-year-old Lester Pernell at a relative's home in Detroit on Tuesday night and found Amaya Pernell unharmed.
Johnstone says the arrest was without a struggle.
The father was arraigned Wednesday on kidnapping, home invasion and domestic violence charges and ordered jailed on $500,000 bond. It's unknown if he has a lawyer.
Authorities say Pernell assaulted his daughter's mother and abducted the girl Monday night. An Amber Alert was issued for Amaya, and the FBI helped East Lansing police search for her.

While none of what happened in this little girl's life in the past couple days was good, I am so thankful for a happier ending for her family and her. Hold on to her tight and be thankful for her safe return. There are so many other tragic stories lately that are unresolved and/or have not turned out so fortunate.
