LANSING - Lansing police are crediting some alert neighbors for helping to catch three burglars in the act.
Police arrested three people Wednesday morning as they walked out the front door of a residence carrying stolen property. Police say neighbors spotted the three entering the home in the 3700 block of Coach Light commons. They knew the residents were away at work, and believe the people entering the building should not be there. They called the police, who quickly arrived and surrounded the home.
As police were attempting to make contact, the three people came out the front door, carrying electronics and other valuables. The home's residents were called and confirmed the three did not belong there and identified the property as being theirs. A 25-year-old Lansing man, a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old female were arrested.
Lansing Police spokesperson Lt. Noel Garcia says, "This is an excellent example of neighbors looking out for neighbors. If the neighbors hadn't done what they did, the suspects more than likely would have gotten away with the property."
