Albion High School is closing.

The school board voted unanimously to close it to help balance the budget.

The district has a $1.1 million dollar deficit.

It will be a K-through-8 district for now, but the decision to keep the high school closed will be made on a year-to-year basis.

Students in grades 9 through 12 would attend Marshall High School this fall.

School Board President Al Pheley told WILX the decision was made in the best interests of the students.
