Update 10:28 PM
Two accidents on westbound I-94 in Jackson County killed a woman Monday afternoon. The first accident happened near the Parma Road exit in Sandstone Township. A semi crashed into two other vehicles, causing the semi to roll on its side, spilling diesel fuel and its load of bread.
That accident backed-up traffic for several miles to the Sandstone Road overpass. Jackson County Undersheriff Christopher Kuhl tells wilx.com a 40-year-old woman from Chicago didn't realize the cars in front of her were nearly stopped and didn't slow down until it was too late. Her Subaru clipped the rear corner of a semi and went off the north shoulder into a swamp. She died from her injuries at the scene. The semi driver was not hurt. I-94 reopened around 6:30pm.
