A 72-year-old man from Utah died in the crash that closed part of Interstate 94 in Jackson County Tuesday evening.

Jackson County Sheriff Steve Rand tells News 10 his name won't be released until Wednesday or Thursday.

Rand says the man was driving a Ford Focus that hit the back end of a flatbed truck that was broken down in the median of the eastbound lanes of I-94 near Mount Hope Rd. in Grass Lake Township.

The truck wasn't on the road. Warning triangles were out.

Investigators do not think the man was speeding or drinking.

The victim's wife is being treated for serious injuries. She is expected to live.

Both of them were wearing seatbelts.

Undersheriff Chris Kuhl tells News 10 I-94 reopened a little after 8 p.m.
