LANSING - Police say a gunman fired an AK-47 assault rifle several times outside a Lansing party store Sunday afternoon. Andre David-Lamar Jones, 26, was charged with 4 felonies Monday. A woman, Tina Marie Gaskin, 33, was also charged in connection to the shooting incident.
No one was hurt when the shots were fired from the assault weapon outside the Speedwagon party store in the 1700 block of S. Washington Ave. Police were called to the area for a report of a fight involving several subjects.
Witnesses said a man took the AK-47 from a car he was using and fired it during the fight. Witnesses said the gunman and a female companion left together before officers arrived. Officers received a description of the suspects and their car.
A patrolling Lansing police officer located a woman matching the description of the female subject walking in the area of MLK Blvd. and Mt. Hope Rd. This woman was identified as one of the subjects' involved with the prior assault. She was arrested without incident.
Officers located the vehicle the two subjects left in unoccupied on Sterling Ave. near MLK Blvd. Officers located a loaded AK-47 near this vehicle. The man was soon located in a home in the 1800 block of Beal. This subject was also identified as being involved with the assault and having fired the AK-47. Andrew Jones was arrested without further incident.
Jones is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and three other felony weapon charges. Gaskin is being harged with accessory after the fact to a felony, and three weapons related felonies.
