DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- AAA Michigan says gasoline prices are up 17 cents per gallon over the past week to a statewide average of $4.15.
The auto club says Monday the statewide average is about $1.26 per gallon higher than last year at this time.
Last week, in addition to results of its regular survey typically released on Mondays, AAA Michigan reported Tuesday that the statewide average had topped $4 a gallon.
Of the cities it surveys, AAA Michigan says the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel is in the Flint, Lansing, Saginaw, Bay City and Traverse City areas, where it's $4.13 a gallon. The highest average can be found in the Marquette area at $4.19.
Dearborn-based AAA Michigan surveys 2,800 Michigan gas stations daily.

how are schools to bus kids. That will be the next issue on schools and what they are loosing.Next they will say no more free lunch or breakfast program for schools.food is going up high so many can't afford, why should schools be different.People can't afford property taxes and they want more for schools, fire & police,Well No,I want to keep my home thank you.How many will loose their home from back taxes due?How many have been foreclosed on & it was illegal.Banks are guilty of many crimes ,yet want us to pay more.Greed is on the move, getting bigger & meaner, all beware.

Snyder says NO to taking the tax off till gas comes down. Will it ever come down. Why is oil companies allowed to have billion dollar profits and not pay the large amount of taxes.Does not gov see what this is doing to the people other than the rich?I do charity work & can no longer help because it takes GAS to do what I do,out of MY soc security.Same with many.food is getting way to high, other products are going up ,even GM car prices.Give us a break. This will cause POVERTY to be wide spread. Why is this happening?
