JACKSON - A Jackson woman may spend the rest of her life in prison, after being charged with the murder of a man she was living with this past weekend. Camia Gamet, 30, was arraigned Monday on an open-murder charge in Jackson County District Court. A judge denied her any bond. Gamet is accused of killing 38-year-old Marcel Hill.

Prosecutors say Gamet had a history of beating Hill. She had been arrested earlier this year, accused of stabbing Hill and hitting with a hammer. Hill refused to cooperate with investigators, and Gamet was released from jail May 9th.

The prosecutor's office says Gamet has a history of domestic violence in other states.

Police were called to the apartment inside a home in the 700 block of Lansing Avenue in Jackson at about 3 o'clock in the morning on Saturday. Hill had been killed by blunt force trauma to the head.

Hill's aunt tells News 10 that the two had been seeing each other for about a year. The aunt says their relationship was often violent.
