BURTON, Mich. (AP) -- An 8-year-old Genesee County boy is in critical condition after shots were fired into a minivan where he sat with his sister, mother and her boyfriend while waiting to go to school.
The Flint Journal reports Wednesday that a slug passed through boy's arm and into his chest.
The family was waiting outside an apartment building in Burton about 6:20 a.m. when a sport-utility vehicle pulled alongside. Burton Police Detective Tom Bade tells the newspaper that five to six shots were fired into the minivan.
Police say the family recently moved into the apartment complex just outside Flint and 50 miles northwest of Detroit. No one else in the minivan was wounded and no arrests have been made.
