The Michigan Department of Natural Resources wants to know who dumped more than 50 cans and buckets of paint and sealant on state land in Antrim County in the northern Lower Peninsula.
Conservation officer Steve Speigl says most cans were sealed when he discovered them on April 16. But he says it wasn't a pleasant sight in a remote, heavily wooded area that leads to Green Lake, southwest of Mancelona.
Speigl says he suspects that someone threw the cans from the back of a pickup truck. About 80 percent were at least half-full. He says many cans were from stores that are out of business.
Speigl says there's always a proper way to get rid of paint. Anyone with information can call the DNR at 989-732-3541.
