MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A woman is arrested after police say she struck cars in five separate hit and run incidents across three mid-Michigan towns.
The collisions started happening around 12:30 Thursday afternoon with the first along Saginaw Street by Homer Street in Lansing Township. Police believe the second hit-and-run for which the woman is responsible took place on Grand River Avenue.
Police say a westbound car was swiped by an eastbound vehicle near Kensington Road in East Lansing. Meridian Township Police say the women continued east along Grand River Avenue and struck a car at Montrose Road, and then another car at the Marsh Road intersection. Police say she she then drove north on Marsh Road, and struck a car at the Haslett Road intersection. By then, police caught up with the car. The woman was stopped in traffic at Marsh Road and Lake Lansing Road, where an officer pulled her from the vehicle.
Meridian Township police say they do not believe anyone was seriously hurt in thse hit-and-run crashes, but they say one person was taken to the hospital. The suspect, who police say is a 35-year-old Eaton Rapids woman, was also taken to the hospital. Meridian Township police say they do not know why the woman behaved this way. They are investigating whether alcohol or drugs were involved, or a possible medical condition.
