LORDSTOWN, Ohio (AP) -- Four people were taken to local hospitals late Friday after a small fire at a northeast Ohio General Motors plant.

GM says operations at its Lordstown complex were back to normal Saturday. The facility was lightly staffed at the time.

In a release, the auto maker said the fire began just before 9 p.m. Friday. The company said an early investigation traced the fire to welding work being performed by contractors.

The company reported three of those taken to the hospital were treated and released, with one remaining hospitalized for observation. Messages were left with the fire department and hospital seeking more information.

A Lordstown police dispatcher said firefighters were on the scene for about two hours.

GM said production would continue Monday with three regularly scheduled shifts.
