LEONI TWP - Police have released the name of a boy who drowned in Leoni Township Monday afternoon. 14-year-old Trenton Michael Moore from Nashville, Michigan, died while swimming in a pond at the Oaks Campground off Cutler Road in Leoni Township. Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety officials say the boy was swimming with a friend across the pond, which is about 100 years by 200 yards, when he went under. The boy was pulled from the water by firefighters about 40 minutes after he disappeared. CPR was attempted, but Moore was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
This is the second drowning in Jackson County this week. On Sunday the body of 18-year-old James Michael Price was discovered by his family in Gilletts Lake. Police believe Price accidentally struck his head during a late night swim alone.
