A Michigan State University professor ranted at students, pounded on walls and furniture before stripping to his socks and walking into the hallway of the Engineering building.
Students in the the math class say the instructor began by shouting obscenities at the the students.
About sixty students are enrolled in the class.
The MSU police department says it received a call shortly after one Thursday afternoon. Officers responded, took the man into protective custody and transported him to a local hospital.
No one was injured, and the professor is not being charged with a crime. MSU police did not give his name or age.
MSU's Counseling center has reached out to students in the class to offer any support. A university spokesperson was unsure if any students had asked for help.
