Attorneys are expected to begin opening arguments in the trial of a Pontiac couple charged with murder in the death of a loss prevention officer who was dragged and crushed while trying to prevent a shoplifting.
Samantha Lomasney's and James Woodworth's trial starts Monday morning in Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac.
They are charged in the Jan. 14 death of 36-year-old Greg Wainio. They face up to life in prison if convicted.
The 20-year-old Lomasney and 39-year-old Woodworth are accused of shoplifting CDs from a Waterford Township Kmart store.
Wainio grabbed onto the vehicle Lomasney was driving and was dragged more than 200 feet across the parking lot. He was crushed when the vehicle crashed into two concrete pillars.
