Max Gover remembers hanging out with David Marion back when they were in middle school.

"He was a funny guy. He was really athletic," Gover said. "I remember he was almost dunking when he was in like 7th or 8th grade."

Gover knew Benjamin French too.

"Real quiet kid," he said. "He was a star athlete in high school, too."

But now, both Marion and French are facing murder charges after the March double homicide of their former Lansing Catholic classmate Darren Brown--- and St. John's man Owen Goodenow.

Sot - that's why this is so messed up cause all 4 of them were great guys, grew up in great homes /
Sot -- just shocked cause i dont think anyone expected it..sometimes we'd sit around like who could this be...But never ever had those 2 people crossed my mind.

French and Kevin Jasonowicz played on the offensive line together at Lansing Catholic for three years.

"He was always a laid back guy, you know, quiet," said Jasonowicz, "but he was a good friend overall."

The Michigan State Police Major Case Unit led the investigation that named Marion and French as suspects.

"Sometimes it's just good, hard, tedious, painstaking police work," said Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings III. "That's what occured in this case."

The Goodenow and Brown families say they're relieved to know these individuals are no longer walking the streets. But they say their lives will never be the same without their boys.

Both Marion and French are due back in court September 28th.
