We have an update on the plane that made an emergency landing Friday afternoon.
The Ingham County Sherrif's office tells us the pilot is in critical condition and has gone into surgery. His name hasn't been released; all we know is he is in his 40s.
The plane's engine failed after taking off this afternoon from Jewett Airport in Mason.
The pilot turned around and put the plane down in a beanfield. The airport is closed until the FAA can investigate the accident.
