John Dingell is the longest-serving U.S. House member, winning re-election 27 times.
Still, there are signs the 84-year-old Dearborn Democrat isn't having an easy go-around this time.
The Michigan Democratic State Central Committee launched a website this week that attacks Dingell's Republican opponent, Rob Steele.
The site calls the Ann Arbor-area cardiologist a "rich doctor" whose "five-car garage isn't big enough to hold all of his nine luxury cars."
And while Dingell held a nine-to-one cash-on-hand advantage over Steele through mid-July, the congressman's fundraising hasn't been as strong as in 2008.
Michigan Democrats spokesman John Tramontana says the party doesn't take any race for granted, including those involving long-serving members of Congress.
