A 15-year-old boy is stabbed after a long-standing dispute between two teens.
According to Lansing Police, the boy was stabbed on the basketball court of Averill Elementary School in Lansing Tuesday evening.
A 16-year-old male suspect learned that the victim was playing basketball with friends at the outdoor basketball court, police said. The suspect went to the basketball court and a fight broke out. Police said the suspect then used a knife to stab the 15-year-old twice in the torso.
The victim was taken taken to his home by a friend, and then transported to a local hospital by his father with life threatening wounds. After surgery was performed, the victim is in serious, but stable condition, police said.
The stabbing suspect has been arrested. He is being housed at youth home and awaiting a hearing Wednesday.
The incident happened after school hours, and the school is not involved.
