Williamston Man Dies In Las Vegas Crash

Authorities have identified a 62-year-old Michigan man who was killed in a fiery taxi crash on Interstate 15 in Las Vegas.

The Clark County coroner said Tuesday that John Meredith of Williamston, Mich., died of injuries received in the 6 p.m. Friday wreck. His death was ruled an accident.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says a Dodge Stratus slammed into the taxi from behind and burst into flames on I-15 near the Sahara Avenue exit.

The taxi driver and two other passengers were taken to University Medical Center with injuries that were described as not life-threatening.

NHP Trooper Joseph Fackrell tells the Las Vegas Sun the crash happened when traffic slowed near the scene of an earlier crash.

Fackrell says none of the taxi passengers was wearing a seat belt.
