PRESQUE ISLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- The U.S. Coast Guard says a man whose boat capsized in the chilly waters of Lake Huron in northern Michigan survived for four hours by clinging to a floating cooler.
The Coast Guard says the 46-year-old man didn't have a life jacket when his boat overturned Monday morning off Presque Isle (PRESK EEL) County's Presque Isle Township, about 200 miles north of Detroit.
The agency says another man on the boat swam to shore and called for help.
A boat from the Coast Guard's Alpena station found the man about 2 p.m. He was suffering from hypothermia and was taken to a hospital for observation.
The Coast Guard says the water temperature was about 60 degrees.
The agency didn't release his name or hometown.
