A Michigan State Police trooper assigned to the Mount Pleasant Post remains suspended without pay in connection with assault charges involving another officer during a training session.
The Morning Sun in Mount Pleasant reports Friday that Jeff Dilts faces a Sept. 16 preliminary examination in an Isabella County court.
Dilts was arraigned Wednesday on misconduct in office and assault and battery.
The state Attorney General's office says the assault occurred in April. State police internal affairs officers investigated the case.
Dilts was suspended without pay on April 21. He is free on bond.
The Associated Press left telephone and e-mail messages Friday afternoon seeking comment from Dilts' attorney.

This should come as no suprise other than I am suprised it didnt occur while on road patrol. More of this type of behavior takes place and is subsquently covered up by MSP than the general public is aware of. The standard of excellence that "troopers" used to held to is no longer is existence and the tangle of interdepartmental political manuvering allows for accepting less that acceptable standards for those who are paid to protect and serve both on and off the clock. Its very disheartening.

no wonder there's no comments, there's not enough information to even comment on, just a titilating headline.

This situation is absolutely ridiculous!! Assault? After hearing what happened from other people there...sounds like the motor carrier officer just wants an early out-mental anguish...what a joke!!...typical!
