Bernero Vows to Block Banks

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Democratic gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero says he'll stop the state from doing business with banks that won't lend in Michigan if he's elected.
He unveiled the plan Thursday to about a dozen Lansing residents in a downtown coffee shop. It was this week's final stop in his "Fighting for Main Street Tour" with running mate Brenda Lawrence.
A call Thursday seeking comment from a Michigan Bankers Association spokeswoman was not immediately returned.
Bernero says Wall Street banks aren't lending to small businesses that could be adding jobs or "working with Michigan to stop foreclosures" by participating in the state's Helping Hardest Hit Homeowners Fund.
Republican opponent Rick Snyder's campaign didn't have an immediate response.

Banks change their names so often I can't imagine how this would be administered. What if the State could get a better rate from one of these banks? Would Virg require the government (taxpayers) to pay higher interest rates? Let's focus on who will best help Michigan recover from this economic disaster. "Virg For President in 2012" What's after that?

Every time Virg opens his mouth he puts his foot into it. The State can not afford to finance themselves. Please get a life and stop trying to be Mr know it all. Virg is not only a career politician, he keeps showing us that he doesn't have any idea about what he is talking about. But then he doesn't know how to put a donut in a box so how could he know about banking. I am sure to him 1 1 = 3. He's really good at stating how he is the only person in Michigan who knows anything. Thank Goodness most of us know better.

Let me just say that Cirg Bernero IS a Career Politician with only what will benefit him personnally. Fact: he quit as a State Rep to run for Mayor of Lansing when Tony termed out. Fact: He has said that HE created Jobs when the Truth is those same Jobs were set into stone BEFORE he was elected by the former Mayor and he is quitting the job as Mayor for his chance to become Governor. Will he quit if elected for another higher position with higher prestige? More than likely given his past record. We, the residents and Taxpayers of Michigan don't need anymore of this type of Politician. Like Obama said on his campaign trail "Vote for Change". Again, probabily not the "Change" Mr Obama was looking for.
