Republicans to Pick Calley's Replacement Wednesday

Republican officials plan to pick a new candidate for the 33rd District state Senate race now that state Rep. Brian Calley is running for lieutenant governor.
The two-term lawmaker from Portland won a hard-fought Republican primary for the Senate seat over Michael Trebesh on Aug. 3. But Calley's plans changed when gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder tapped him last week as his running mate.
Officials from Republican county executive committees in Clinton, Ionia, Isabella and Montcalm counties will choose another Senate candidate to run against Democrat James Hoisington.
