Two Democrats who lost Michigan state House races in the Aug. 3 primary election are requesting recounts with election officials.
State officials said Wednesday that both recounts involve seats representing parts of Detroit.
Mary Sheffield has requested a recount in the 4th District after certified results indicated she lost to Maureen Stapleton by 73 votes.
Stacy Pugh requested a recount in the 10th District after certified results indicated she lost to Harvey Santana by 82 votes.
The recounts are expected to be finished by the end of August.
