The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department says the target of a drug raid died after deputies used a stun gun to subdue him.

Sheriff's spokesman Derrick Jackson said Sunday that state police are investigating because deputies are involved.

Jackson says deputies were assisting with a drug raid Friday afternoon in Superior Township, about 30 miles west-southwest of Detroit.

He says 31-year-old Stanley H. Jackson fled into a house, then struggled with deputies, who used a stun gun in arresting him.

The spokesman says an emergency medical services crew was called as a matter of routine. He says the suspect was alert then and on arrival at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital but later died there.

This is a statement on how unhealthy people have become. The jolt of electricity is meant to stun an average healthy person. If a person has a previous condition, a system compromised from HIV or drug use or needs to be zapped longer than need will be at risk for death.
