Michigan officials say a 28-year-old Madison Heights police officer is the state's third person to die from swine flu.
The Michigan Department of Community Health said Thursday the man lived in Macomb County and had other underlying health conditions. He died last Friday morning.
While the state did not release the man's name, Detroit-area media reported hundreds packed a church Tuesday to remember Madison Heights officer Ryan Settlemoir. He was one of about 20 employees in the department who got sick in late May and early this month.
Settlemoir died at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
Michigan had 655 confirmed cases of swine flu as of last week.
