MOTTVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- A worker who died after falling into a railroad car at a southwest Michigan grain elevator has been identified.

The St. Joseph County sheriff's office says Saturday that 30-year-old Eric Rodman was loading rail cars shortly before 11 a.m. Friday at the mill in Mottville Township when he lost his footing and fell into a hopper car.

Co-workers pulled Rodman out and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but the Elkhart, Ind., resident later was pronounced dead.

The mill is just north of the Indiana state line and is operated by The Andersons, Inc., an Ohio-based agribusiness. Company spokeswoman Debbie Crow tells The Associated Press that grain was in the hopper car.

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the case. Crow says the company is cooperating with authorities.
