UPDATE: LPD Chief and Lansing Mayor On Shootings

The suspect remains at large.  He's described as a black man, from 5'8", to 5'10" tall, dressed in black.  He left the pharmacy east bound on foot.
 

At a press conference to unveil a re-launch of a successful crime prevention program for kids, Lansing Police Chief Mike Yankowski and Mayor Virg Bernero talked about the city's 2nd homicide of the year.

Chief Yankowski confirmed the victim was dead when officers arrived at the Rite Aid on Saginaw and Clippert in the Frandor Shopping Center just after 11 a.m. on Monday. Chief Yankowski did not identify the victim, but says he was an employee. the Chief says all resources have been deployed to figure out what lead to the shooting, including agents from the FBI. The suspect remains at large. He's described as a black man, from 5'8", to 5'10" tall, dressed in black. He left the pharmacy east bound on foot.

Chief Yankowski says East Lansing Police are investigating a shooting that happened shortly after the homicide nearby. ELPD are still surrounding a home on the 1800 block of Coolidge Road. Yankowski says detectives are working to figure out if those shootings are related.
