EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Officials say the Pigeon Creek watershed in southern Michigan's Calhoun County and the Hayworth Creek watershed in mid-Michigan's Clinton County are part of a new National Water Quality Initiative.

This U.S. Department of Agriculture initiative provides money to help farmers protect wildlife habitats and improve water quality.

The nonprofit Michigan Association of Conservation Districts announced details of the effort this week. Applications to participate in the effort are due June 16.
