HOWELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Southeastern Michigan authorities say a 2-year-old girl has died from burns she sustained in an overnight fire at a mobile home.
The Detroit Free Press and the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell say the fire started about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
It happened at Fairlawn Estates Mobile Home Park in Livingston County's Howell Township, about 45 miles west-northwest of Detroit.
Howell Area Fire Chief Andy Pless says the girl had burns on nearly all of her body. Sheriff Bob Bezotte says she died at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor.
Bezotte says the girl's father sustained burns to his hands and arms while trying to rescue his daughter. The sheriff didn't release the girl's name.
Pless says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
