One by one, dozens of passengers rolled into the Jackson train station, many of them still shaken up after what they'd been through.

"Just so scared because we just see the first car wiggling, and then it happened so fast, and just a bump and see the first car turn to the right. We were on the next car. We thought our car gonna flip also," said Evelyn Salazar, who was riding the Chicago-bound train with her three kids.

It was their first time riding a train ever.

"She said she's not going to ride in a train anymore," said Salazar about her daughter.

Royal Green, on the other hand, has a long train ride ahead.

"On my way to Houston, Texas because my son died Saturday and I was on my way down there for his funeral," said Green.

Most of the 68 passengers and five crew members escaped unscathed.

"It was incredible. We sort of can't believe it. We decided to take the train rather than car to just avoid traffic of Chicago," said one Dexter lady who preferred not to be named.

"That was a miracle. That's a miracle from up there," said Green.

The rest boarded buses to Battle Creek and Kalamazoo.

"I been here since 1974 and this is actually the first serious accident I can recall. Train travel on the whole is very safe," said Brian Karhoff, lead station agent for Jackson Amtrak.
