The Michigan Film Office says a Robocop remake and an Eminem-produced Web series are among three projects approved for state film incentives.
"RoboCop," which has been filming in Toronto, was approved for $294,000 in incentives on $1 million in anticipated in-state spending. The reboot of the classic 1987 cult film with Peter Weller will include shots of Detroit and its landmarks.
Joel Kinnaman will play the hybrid human-robot policeman patrolling a futuristic Motor City.
Eminem's "Detroit Rubber" was approved for $53,000 on nearly $170,000 of projected Michigan spending. It will chronicle two small Royal Oak business owners.
"The Castle" also was awarded about $48,000 on nearly $164,000 of in-state expenditures. The Web comedy is a reality TV satire filmed in Charlevoix.
The three projects were approved for fiscal year 2013.
