The owner of George's Senate Coney Island in Northville, MI has a tradition. Every year he invites people who are homeless, or alone on Thanksgiving Day to come in and enjoy a free meal.

George came to the United States at the age of 23 after growing up in Greece. He lived on a farm with seven brothers and sisters, and his parents couldn't afford to send him to school. He left home at the age of 12 and went to Athens, where he was homeless for a time, and depended on the kindness of others to give him food.

He has a popular coney island now, and has enjoyed hosting people for a free meal for many years now. George tells News 10 "It makes my heart feel good to do it, and help a little bit." He says dozens of people show up every year, and he hopes more people will come this year.

People seem to agree. One of his customers took a picture of the invitation and posted it to social media where it was widely shared online, getting thousands of likes, comments, and shares from people all over the country. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion.
