Dozens of police officers and firefighters were called to the scene of huge holiday emergency Thursday.
Their mission,, assemble hundreds of Christmas baskets for delivery to area senior citizens.
They formed a gift basket assembly line at Lansing Fire Station Number Eight, and goal number one, "No Senior Without Christmas." an annual event that grows bigger every year.
80 volunteers from Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties putting together three hundred care packages filled with every day necessities for delivery to home bound seniors, who don't have family, and might be forgotten at Christmas.
Lansing Police Sergeant Traci Ruiz is chairperson of Ingham County TRIAD, a coaltion that brings area seniors in touch with those who serve and protect.
The volunteers loaded the gift baskets into patrol cars and on fire engines for a day long delivery to more than 300 needy seniors in the Tri-county area.
