LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson and South Korean Consul General Chul Huh have signed a mutual driver's license agreement expected to assist students, travelers and business people.
They completed the agreement Tuesday at the Michigan Capitol in Lansing.
Johnson's office says the agreement grew out of discussions between Gov. Rick Snyder and South Korean leaders. Under the agreement, South Korean citizens over 18 who are legally in the U.S. and have established residency in Michigan can exchange their South Korean driver's licenses for a Michigan license.
The applicant has to pay fees and pass a vision test but need not take a written or driving test.
It's Michigan's second such reciprocity agreement after one with Germany. Talks are under way with France.
