Michigan Communities Get $2.5M for HIV Prevention

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan has awarded nearly $2.5 million to 16 community-based and non-governmental organizations for HIV prevention services.
The Michigan Department of Community Health's HIV/AIDS Prevention and Intervention Section announced the funding Tuesday.
The money is being awarded through 2016. The aim is to reach people in Michigan at greatest risk for acquiring or transmitting the virus that causes AIDS.
Funding is going to communities including Detroit, Kalamazoo, Dearborn, Ypsilanti, Saginaw, Lansing, Ferndale, Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Flint.
