DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- Two bands from Henry Ford Community College are getting ready for an inaugural jam.
The Big Band and Midnight Blue Band will perform Jan. 21 at President Barack Obama's inauguration in Washington, D.C. But first, they're scheduled to rehearse Sunday evening at the Dearborn campus.
Another Detroit-area band also is playing the presidential inauguration with the help of a local philanthropy. The General Motors Foundation is giving $25,000 to the Detroit Public Schools Foundation to help Cass Technical High School's marching band travel to and play during the festivities.
The gift came after the band's fundraising efforts fell short.
