More than 150 people walked in front of the Jackson County Tower Building Friday afternoon to protest the shutdown of medical marijuana dispensaries.

Jackson County prosecutor Jerry Jarzynka had ordered the dispensaries in the county to close in accordance with state law.

Supporters told News 10, the closures hurt the sick and needy.

"They're saying 'if you help these sick people, we'll throw you in prison"'"said protest organizer Joe Cain.

The Supreme Court's recent ruling means Michigan's 126,000 approved medical marijuana users must grow their own pot or get it from a licensed care giver.
