The showdown on Medicaid expansion is expected this week. A vote is expected as early as tomorrow in the republican controlled senate on whether to expand Medicaid to more low-income adults in Michigan.
Governor Rick Snyder is pushing for Medicaid expansion under the federal health care law. He says too many low income people are currently using the emergency room for their primary medical care---and that is unacceptable and expensive.
But many Republicans oppose this expansion, saying it will cost the state in the long run. The Republican-controlled house has already voted in favor of Medicaid expansion. We'll be following this story this week and let you know what happens.
