Man Released After Serving 10 Years for Rape

A Port Huron man says he wants a cheeseburger, fries and a Coke after winning his freedom following nearly 10 years in prison in a rape case.
James Grissom was released from custody Monday after a St. Clair County judge dismissed the case at the request of prosecutors. He was convicted in 2003, but authorities later learned that the alleged victim had lied about similar attacks in California.
Grissom was granted a new trial based on that discovery. But prosecutor Michael Wendling instead dropped the case, saying a conviction was unlikely.
Grissom says he sat in prison for nearly 10 years for something he didn't do. He was convicted of raping a woman in a Meijer parking lot, despite no physical evidence. She didn't report the assault for a year.

There are many wrongly accused in prisons everywhere and as a society, we choose to lock them up and throw away the key because they should just rot there, right? I wish lawyers would stop playing games with people's lives and truly figure out who needs to be there and who doesn't. How many who should be in prison are off on a technicality and how many are in because of a technicality? This man's life was ruined, with no evidence and I hope he does get some major compensation for the friends, family, livelihood, and honor he lost because of a woman who lied. I would figure it on what his employment was when he was arrested, paid at where he would have been in today's market for 10 years, tax free, and then add on a reasonable amount for pain and suffering worth 20 years.

Well done White Knights of the Judicial System. You screwed up a man's life on the mere words of a woman.. did you end up getting into her pants later? OR did she or some feminist give you a pat on your back, and you felt like a good doggy? Men.. Check out 'Community of the wrongly accused', and join the Mens Rights Movement.

How can a person be conviceted with no evidence? So much for the scales of justice. Surely this trash of a woman will face the same sentence(s) that her falsely accused rapists were given.
